Independent Candidate for President
Misteradiant:

I will legalize hemp growth and production. It is important to know that hemp is not pot. It has thicker stalks and more branches than marijuana. THC (the psychoactive element in marijuana) levels in industrial hemp are so low that no one could ever get high smoking it. Moreover, hemp contains a relatively high percentage of a cannabinoid called CBD, that actually blocks the marijuana high. Hemp is not only not marijuana, it is the antidote of it.

Now that the fear and paranoia is out of the way, America will invest in growing hemp for one main reason: Biodiesel

Because some caution that biodiesel is unlikely to evolve into a permanent fix for our fuel needs, we need hemp. They say that biofuels may be useful in reducing petroleum dependence in the near future, but it's doubtful that fuels made from plants can completely free us from foreign oil. They say this is because making biofuels requires a lot of land, and when biofuels become widely used, the nation would face a choice between growing food and growing fuel. Hemp reduces this problem greatly because it is sturdy and can be grown in lands not currently known for their graces in being soil suited to farm. Thousands of miles of high desert in Texas and New Mexico and Arizona are prime hemp farming areas.

500 gallons of hemp stalk biofuel can be converted from only one acre of farmland. America needs 200 million acres of land devoted to growing crops that yield at least 500 gallons of biofuel per acre to produce 100 billion gallons of fuel. Sounds like a lot? Currently America uses 186 billion gallons a year in gasoline alone. The average gas-powered vehicle in America gets less than 25 miles per gallon. The average diesel motor gets 25% better fuel economy than a gas vehicle. In 25 years all vehicles in the nation could be powered by biodiesel and get 25% more mileage than they do now. If that happens, 30% of American farmland currently devoted to crops would be needed to sustain the nation with fuel. America would have to use 10 million of 90 million acres of farmland reserved by the government for soil conservation and 15 million acres of Bureau of Land Management land (6%). I propose to help land owners in the west take unused land and turn 100 million acres into hemp farmland. My administration will initiate laws that all consumer cars, trucks and SUV's must get an average of 28 MPG in 2009, 32 MPG by 2015, 35 MPG by 2020, 38 MPG by 2025 and 42 MPG by 2030.

With these acts, we can produce enough fuel to power our nation by 2030, 24 years from now. This information does not include any gallons saved by developing and selling electric, diesel/electric and hydrogen-powered automobiles. Currently, gas/electric hybrids get 50 MPG. Biodiesel/electric motors could easily get 65 MPG by 2030, if our government initiates the proper investment into biodiesel industry. A 30% savings from the mandatory mileage above in 2030 means another 40 billion gallons of fuel to export. If in 25 years, America's consumer fuel needs could be save 100 billion gallons a year in biofuel that could instead be exported. That would cut off half of our current budget deficit and probably more with the sale of innovative products created for the biodiesel industry, from plant processing to automobile engine technology. I do not see why creating a viable biofuel industry would not add 300 billion dollars in exported goods to the American economy by initiating the growth of an industry that would seed the development of many dozens of others to support it.

As President of the United States I pledge to have an administration whose focus is to wane America from foreign oil by creating our own renewable fuel and energy resources. Legalizing hemp growth is one-third of my plan. The other two are creating a national biofuel industry and investing in alternative sources of energy.

Worldwide need for hemp waned for decades until recently, when the need for other sources of fuel to power our transportation began to explode. Wars and economic downturns have occurred throughout the world due to the volatile political, social and religious situations in the countries where oil is produced. I believe in an America where hemp is grown to create fuel that reduces our need for foreign oil. Quickly developing regional and national biofuel industry to supply all of America all of its current foreign gasoline needs is my plan to stop a war that exists only to keep a weak dollar propped up while playing enabler to America's foreign oil addiction.

Like it's some psychic fad of the collective unconsciousness of boys playing in daddy's office.

The Bush administration's National Energy Technology Laboratory in the Department of Energy offers this:

Many credible analysts have recently become much more pessimistic about the possibility of finding the huge new reserves needed to meet growing world demand.
Even the most optimistic forecasts suggest that world oil peaking will occur in less than 25 years
.

This is information from our own government, folks. They have every reason to lie to you that this will never happen, much less in your lifetime. But the truth is that in 25 years, America better be energy-sufficient. Biodiesel, as well as my ideas for Alternative Energy, will insure a safe and prosperous future for our great nation.

Hemp Biodiesel Facts:
+ The exhaust emissions of carbon monoxide from biodiesel are 47% lower than carbon monoxide emissions from regular diesel.

+ Biodiesel reduces the health risks associated with petroleum diesel. Biodiesel emissions showed decreased levels of cancer causing compounds.

+ In a period of 28 days, pure biodiesel degrades 85% to 88% in water.

+ Any CO² released from burning hemp as fuel matches the CO² the plant had beneficially taken from the environment while growing, creating what is called a closed carbon cycle (The CO² released into the atmosphere when biodiesel is burned is recycled by growing plants, which are later processed into fuel, which starts the cycle over). Biodiesel will slow down the effects of global warming.

+ Biodiesel emissions have decreased levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), cancer causing compounds. Test results indicate PAH compounds were reduced by 75% to 85% in biodiesel vs. regular diesel emissions.

+ Biodiesel has zero sulfur emissions.

+ The exhaust emissions of total hydrocarbons (a contributing factor in the localized formation of smog and ozone) are 93% lower for biodiesel and diesel.

+ Biodiesel is non-toxic. Table salt is nearly 10 times more toxic.

Hemp was a major product in America in colonial times, grown by such men as George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. The multitude of products that can be derived from this plant has made it one of the most valuable plants in history. Today, biodiesel using straight-up cooking oil can even be created by you, at home!

America does not need to assist farmers who decide to grow hemp instead of tobacco. Farmers will profit more by growing certified hemp seed than tobacco. Tobacco is a product that is used for the sole purpose of smoking. Smoking tobacco causes disease and kills people. Growing hemp creates industry for products used to more cleanly power automobiles, build homes and clothe people. Hemp does not kill. Legalizing hemp will make America healthier because as the cost of tobacco rises, the usage rate drops.

Besides health benefits in air quality and less cigarette smoking, legalizing the growth of hemp and hemp seed will create new industries to process it. The government will invest in grants to new businesses in need of hemp seed processing technology for biofuel. America has the opportunity to be the best-managed, most technologically-advanced hemp industry in the world, while feeding American farming families and creating an inexpensive renewable source for paper, textiles and most importantly, fuel. America is a land made for farming. It is fertile and it is vast. American farmers have needed help from it's government in ways that are not just handouts. I want to give them a fair deal when it comes to this nation's trade policies and America will only purchase it's hempseed biodiesel from American farmers. America can become the number one supplier of biodiesel to the world by 2015.

New hemp industries will energize rural job growth while developing new tax revenue. It is good for America and bad for oil corporations. Screw them. Their commercials are filled with lies. Do not trust anyone who lies to you. I've got a carbon footprint for your ass, British Petroleum, it's called biodiesel and I want American entrepreneurs to own it from seed to fuel, closed carbon cycle to profit.

My vision of America is not of a country married to a commodity that starts wars and kills people. My vision of America is one of healthy and intelligent communities, of innovation and honest work. My vision of America is one of freedom and prosperity for all, not a few.

In an article in the Arizona Republic today, August 31, 2006, I found that the Federal Government is now demanding all diesel fuel providers only sell fuel called "ultra-low-sulfur diesel." Diesel suppliers can be fined $32,500 per day for having too much sulfur in their fuel after October 15. Ultra-low-sulfur diesel cannot exceed a sulfur content of 15 parts per million. The old standard was 500 ppm. Biodiesel has zero sulfur emissions. Ultra-low-sulfur diesel is a fucked-with fossil fuel that costs more per barrel to tweak into being lower in sulfur emissions. The estimate to tweak this diesel is 15 cents per gallon, a 5% increase. Biodiesel will cost less because it is a naturally clean-burning fuel and again to be sure you got the important part, BIODIESEL HAS ZERO SULFUR EMISSIONS. It does not need to be fucked with. Don't let the Bush Administration fool you into thinking they did anything with this new law but insure profit for oil companies and the corporations that support them while making everything more expensive for the working American citizen.

Pay attention now to auto manufacturers who are making increasing numbers of models with diesel motors. Already, every Volkswagen automobile can be purchased with a diesel engine. They know the easiest way to keep selling cars is to be sure they will run affordably. Biodiesel fuel motors have 15% to 30% greater fuel economy than that of gasoline engines at approximately the same price per gallon. Biodiesel not only costs less per mile, but unlike petroleum-based diesel, is an infinitely renewable source of fuel in a closed carbon cycle that does not pollute with sulfur. Biodiesel pollutes the atmosphere with 93% less hydrocarbons.

Come on, people! Should we invest in wars and death until oil is gone and our nation collapses? Or should we start working for an America that assures each citizen a safe, healthy and fulfilling life as members of a nation that is the world's answer to the root cause of Middle-Eastern-born terrorism and war, sustainable energy?

I root for sustainable energy in the form of biofuel. I challenge every American to demand of their representatives a plan to get America off foreign oil dependence by 2030.

Biodiesel is America's answer to the Iraq War, terrorism and the economy. Biodiesel makes a cleaner environment, stimulates scientific discovery and saves small farms. Regional co-op biofuel processing facilities will create jobs and boost taxes for education, public works and to beef up our southern border against illegal immigration. It gives America the upper hand in trade, creates an energy independent nation and solves health care issues because it pollutes less and is cleaner to develop.

Biofuel. Beefing up this single industry helps solve many of the major issues our country faces. For America to remain the America of our dreams, creating an industry for renewable biofuel is the best way to insure our national safety, solidarity and security.
