I will abolish the tax code in favor of a 12% flat tax on individuals and companies. For employees, percentages of net earnings will be deducted by paycheck and for corporations, in quarterly payments. The Internal Revenue Service will still be needed to investigate corporate bookkeeping to assure that percentages are paid, but the service will be a skeleton of its former bloated body.
In early 2005, an analysis of state corporate income taxes paid by 252 of America’s largest and most profitable corporations found that in 2003, these companies on average failed to include two-thirds of their actual U.S. pretax profits on their state tax returns!
Some companies, such as Toys R Us, AT&T, Boeing, Eli Lilly, Merrill Lynch and ITT paid no state income taxes for the years 2001 - 2003.
The largest 250 corporations pay approximately 2% of their net profit in state taxes. 61% of all U.S. companies paid no federal tax at all during the years of 1996 to 2000, according to the federal government's General Accounting Office (GAO).
94% of all U.S. corporations paid less than 5% of their total income in corporate taxes. Among the 1% of all corporations that own 93% of all corporate assets, 82% paid less than 5% of their income in taxes.
70% of foreign-owned companies doing business in the United States paid no federal tax in the late 1990s.
Imagine an America with hundreds of billions of dollars more every year from taxing corporations double what they pay now.
With this info in mind, more than 21% of total tax refunds distributed in 2000 went to corporations. It is time to stop this kind of corruption and make every corporation pay equally into the country it makes profits from. They are rich and you are not. They will still be rich when they pay taxes and while you may still not be rich, the benefits of taxing corporations in America will surely make you richer.
Best of all, with the creation of a new industry, the biofuel industry, more jobs and companies will be born. Each worker and organization is a taxable revenue that will help fund National Health Care, Education, Scientific Research and Development, Public Works upgrades and more. It is these riches that I intend to give to every American citizen.
